It may not be "Phantom of the Opera", but it is being sponsored by Jefffersons Opera House Theatre Players and its going to be a "monster of a party".

Entitled Monster Karaoke and Krazy Kostume Kontest, the event will feature several age categories for karaoke singers in costume to sing for a cash prize in a pre-Halloween party for all ages to be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the DB Franchise Restaurant in downtown.

Billed as a fund-raising party to help underwrite the next productions of the community theatre group, the party is open to ages 5 to 12 in the first group; 12 to 21 in the second group; and 21 and up in the third group. Entry fee for Group 1 is $5; for Group 2 is $10 and Group 3 is $15.  A person may  compete in costume and win a cash prize of $50 in each category.  Those that wish to sing karaoke but wear no costume will be allowed to sing but will be inelgible to win the cash prize.  In turn, a person who is in costume but doesn't wish to sing is also inelgible tp win..  Judging will be by audience members who will be given a ballot to vote.

The Monster Karaoke party is the brainchild of new board members Scott Imhof and Patrick Fortune who work on stage as well as off stage in technical areas during the Players seasons.  According to theatre director, Marcia Thomas, "we are excited to have these new members of the board pulll something right out of the hat at their first board meeting and suggest this fun event as a fund-raiser.  Since we're always ready for a party anyway, we jumped right on it to bring something different to Jefferson hat might develop some more talent for us or at the very least more supporters".

The Monster Karaoke and Krazy Kostume Kontest will be held from 6 to 10 pm in the large dining/dancing room of the restaurant that is being furnished at no charge by the DB Franchise.  Also on exhibit will be specially painted macabre art work that will also be for sale furnished by several area artists including Joann Imhof and her son Scott and others of the area art community. Patrons may eat or have refreshments at the restaurant at their own costs but the theatre plans to furnish decorations and some complimentary,  themed candies or cakes for the event.
